Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Next on the Harry Potter Marathon (that really shouldn’t be happening) is Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, one of my top three favorites in the series. The book starts with Voldemort plotting to kill Harry (no surprise there) and then he actually kills the muggle who at the moment was our narrator. The Dursleys are terrible (as usual), and the part where the Weaslys come to get Harry and burst thru the boarded up fireplace is super funny. Also how Harry kind of blackmails the Durleys into leaving him alone with the ‘godfather’ card!! Those parts were hilarious. Fred and George were back in this book and up to their antics again. Malfoy was terrible as usual, and was always lording over Harry how much more he knew about the Triwizard Tournament, even before it was announced. Going on and on about how his father had told him all about the special thing happening this year and bla bla bla… I really liked Cedric in this book, I don’t know why, he just seemed like one of the few people in the book who wasn’t in on something, like Malfoy and his death eater father, or Harry hiding Sirius. Cedric just seemed really honest, genuine and like an open book, something you don’t see very often at Hogwarts. Fleur and Krum were ok, I mean that is if you completely ignore how Krum took Hermione to the ball, (well actually I should be thanking Krum, because if he didn’t take Hermione, she and Ron would never have gotten together (thanks for the info Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) so thank you Krum (sort of)). UGH UGH UGH MOODY!!! A.K.A. Barty Crouch Jr. There were so many times when I was just shouting at the characters to put two and two together, and that part at then end, where Mcgnagall and Dumbledore gave him the truth potion and Crouch revealed his master plan was so awesome. How J.K. Rowling weaves her stories together so we don’t even see the plots twists coming even on the second read, is amazing!
I can’t review this book without saying anything about Voldemort, so here goes. I despise him and all his followers especially Mr. Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle. I wish they could leave Harry alone for just one year so he could focus only on schoolwork and quidditch, however that would not make for an interesting book. And lastly, I can’t wait to see how Harry evades/defeats him in the next book. To Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix!
