Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Finally a classic with a happy (ish) ending! This is probably one of the only British literature books I have read, understood completely and actually liked! The story is told very well written, and is extremely interesting contrary to popular belief at the time of its publishing. Emily Brontë actually died before it gained the hype it has today; while she was alive, everyone hated it, saying it was sloppy and disgusting. Her sister, Charlotte Brontë (author of Jane Eyre) actually had to write a letter of apology that was used as a foreword to the book, to explain to all the readers that it was her sister’s first and only novel and she hadn’t had much practice writing before it. I of course, completely disagree and think it’s an amazing book.
