The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein by Kiersten White
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wow! This book was great! I had to read Frankenstein for an English class, so I knew what was going to happen in the story (even though my brain seemed to conveniently forget what happened to Elizabeth just as things were really getting moving). Not that it mattered though, I totally thought the ending was going to be the same one as in Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, since Kiersten White had basically conformed to the book for the entire story, and was extremely surprised when it was totally different. The part at the beginning where Elizabeth gets the birds nest but she doesn’t finish the story, I totally saw that coming. It was very obvious Victor was going to hurt the bird, however I still hoped he wouldn’t do it. This book was really good, the plot was super interesting, although it could be a little slow at times and I found myself being so mad at some characters and the gothic world because they didn’t treat women how they deserve to be treated. I really liked the ending especially because I could see Elizabeth wasn’t going to die like in the original Frankenstein. There were three hours left in the audiobook (I had the audiobook for this one) on her wedding night and I knew something was going to happen to derail the story because even the best of writers couldn’t drag out one night over three hours worth of reading time. Justine, Henry and William! Victor is the cruelest, meanest, worst human being on the planet! I can’t believe he could kill his own brother! While I was listening to this book I kept wanting to jump thru my screen and ruin him. This book is really great and definitely worth a read!
